Crusaders First Challenge Entry!

One of my favorite things in the world is being a sister. Those who know me well recognize how defined I am by my family, so it seems fitting to introducing myself to new, Crusading friends by sharing a glimpse into my life with four sisters.

Our parents, more rabbit-like than fuliguline, had us one after the other, naming us Nicole, Natalie, Noelle, Nadine, and Natasha.  They stuttered through our childhood, resorting to pointing a trembling finger and growling, “You!  Get over here.”  Even our children have trouble sorting out our names.  I have a nephew who calls me Aunt Nic-Nack-No, our running joke which makes me smile.

Not surprisingly, there’s plenty of drama in our lives.  At any given moment, someone’s life is on the blade-edge of crisis.  And try as we might, we can’t keep each other’s secrets.  When one says, “Well, she-- Oops, never mind…” the other will pry the rest out, promising never to pass the info on.  Until she later slips to another: “No, I heard she– Oops! Never mind…”

I didn’t start social networking until recently, out of fear of sister drama playing out on Facebook.  It’d happened in the past, and I wanted no part of it.  (Plus, my sisters are beautiful and incredibly photogenic.  But me?  Systematically, as a picture is snapped, I feel the urge to talk.  I’m always captured with jaw swung to the side, nostrils flared, and eyes closed.  Those open eyes are actually Photoshopped in on my profile picture!)

Drama aside, I love my sisters to death.  They’re funny, stylish, quirky, and all-around awesome ladies.  Though in heated moments I'm accused of bloviating, I’m a very philosophical, even-keeled soul – a true Libra, through and through – and am able to offer perspective when the drama gets overwhelming.  Through it all, my sisters fill my heart with love, and they bring more joy to my life than words can express.

Thanks to Rachael Harrie for providing the prompts for this Crusader challenge!  Read all the participating entries here.

And, within the paragraphs above, I have revealed something about me that isn’t strictly true, can you guess what it is?  The truth will be revealed Monday!  See you then J

Happy Weekend!

Lovely relationship you have with your sisters. I have one older brother, but secretly prayed for a sister when I was younger.

If I were to guess your untruth, I'd have to say it has something to do with the social networking, but I'm just not sure. Can't wait to find out!

I'm thinking your eyes being photo shopped in your online photo is the lie- have a fairy wonderful day!

Kari Marie said...

I agree with Summer. The Eyes have it! Your family sounds fun though. I'm a one and only lonely child.

Ha ha! My parents names us with all C's. Chantele, Chaleese, Chakell, and our brother is by himself with a B name. :) I've been called so many different combination's of our names! It's nice to meet you! Fellow crusader here!;)

I don't think your picture has been photoshopped either, sorry. Everyone's been captured at some point with their jaw yacking but I am sure you take beautiful pictures! Happy Crusading!

When sisters are involved there's bound to be drama!

I also think the untruth is about the eyes. ;-)

Sounds like the four of you have a great relationship.

Great post!

This is hard . . . but my guess is you haven't really Photoshopped your profile picture.

Not peeking at others answers, My guess is you are a terrible liar and being something of an expert in photoshop -I Know better. I have no doubt that you are often caught off guard for a photo, but you not being photogenic? Ahhhgggg hahaha! Thats funny. Your secret is that you have all this family drama and fear it playing on the internet - to much truth to that to be wrong.

Thanks for sharing and I agree about the credo vomit -lol. We live way to close to Kansas and the spew is very easily blown our direction.

Ok, now I will see what everyone else said.

You aren't Libra. that's my guess!
Happy crusading

I think you're every much as beautiful as your sisters! And, to me, you're just as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside! :)

Hmmm, as for the *untruth*, I'm a bit stumped...but I'm going with the profile picture.

Hope you're able to get out and enjoy this beautiful weather!

Great job! Loved the description of the relationships. I'm an only child myself, so I love hearing stories like these. I'm going to say that the photoshopped eyes is the lie. Look forward to learning more about you.

"Aunt Nic-Nack-No" is so adorable--I love that. :)

The photoshop thing is tosh. Of this I'm certain..ly thinking it might be something else.

Thanks for the reminder of how special sisters are. I will have to let my sisters know how much I care for them.

Hmm, I have a hard time believing the Photoshop comment. That'd be my guess.

I have something for you at my blog if/when you have the chance. :)

So sweet.
You're lucky. I could never convince my parents to give me siblings. Now I'm stuck as a Gemini with my Twin Best Friend. Which isn't actually a bad thing.

Hi Nicole! Thanks again for the wonderful 'fest which makes me feel such a winner!

Loved reading your sisterly stories. I have 3 sisters, but I can't imagine a parent calling you all by the same initial! Liar! Imagine ripping each other's mail apart!

Fun challenge.

Denise:)

Great post! As an only child, I can't relate to sibling stories, but I like hearing about them.

My guess is the photoshopped eyes (though I am tempted to say that your sisters do not accuse you of 'bloviating' because no one outside this challenge uses that word).

What a trip it must be to have so many sisters.

I don't believe you about the photos. I've seen too many pretty pictures of you in the past.

Alison Miller said...

wow! very interesting - I was hooked when you started talking about your sisters.

Fellow crusader! Just stopping by to say hi

Fellow crusader!
I think it's the photoshop pic that's the lie. Enjoyed reading about your family, thank you.

Awesome post! I have a great older brother but I always wanted a sister.

I'm thinking that... you're not a Libra!

Happy Sunday! :)

Great post - I have a sister and call each other 'Blister' lol!

I think the fib is the photoshopped eyes.

Nicole, Natalie, Noelle, Nadine, and Natasha.... a reality show in the making?

"Those open eyes are actually Photoshopped in on my profile picture!" This is my guess on what is not true...

I only have one sister, but we've always been great friends too. Love the way you incorporated your challenge words :)

Margo Kelly said...

fellow crusader and new follower! I have no idea which thing is the lie! :)

Regina said...

I would have to guess that your eyes were not photo shopped in the photograph. I really enjoyed your story. I understand somewhat about the sister thing. My mother named us Rebecca, Rachel and Regina. I being the youngest...she would go through every name until she got to mine to talk to me. Really great post. Fellow crusader and follower.

LTM said...

omg! *snort* I'm always talking in pictures, too! But I LOVE the idea of your family. I only had one older brother, and I LONGED for a sister so bad... I adopted Reese Witherspoon after seeing Man in the Moon. I still think of her as my little sister. :D

What a wonderful time you all must have. :o) <3

I'm the youngest of 17, and the only boy. I'm wearing shades in my profile pic cuz I always close my eyes in pictures too.

It's possible I lied in one or both of those last two sentences.... ;)

Also, WTH does "fuligulene" mean? I'm not used to needing to look words up! Still less used to not finding immediate answers via google!

Anonymous said...

Maybe the lie is that your sisters's names don't all start with 'N'?

S.A. Larsenッ said...

Beautiful post. Must have been interesting with all those girls. I have three boys (and a daughter) and let me tell you that is way too much testosterone in one household. LOL

VR Barkowski said...

What a sweet post! Not buying the photoshop part, though. I've seen too many lovely pics of you for that to be true.

dolorah said...

No clue what could possibly be untrue. This is so sweet. A beautiful entry. Thanks for sharing your love for your sisters.

Lovely commentary on your family. I gave my daughters that pin, and just wish it were bigger. Your lie? That was a little white-lie! Love your post. susan

K, I'm totally late to this party, but oh so glad I made it! I think maybe there wasn't so much sister drama on facebook and therefore, you aren't just starting to network, but who knows! You had a great and very believable tale to tell!

I also have four sister's and we are all M's! Add that to five brother's who also have M names and than a last name that begins with an M. Most of my life, I was referred to as some mumbled jumble something. If it got too bad, I was # 7 :) Not really, but I had friends that liked to tease that our laundry baskets had a number instead of a name.

I loved hearing about your sister's! I am the baby sister of my family with three little brother's after.

Thanks for sharing :)

J.L. Campbell said...

Hey, Nicole,

I'm guessing the lie is about your profile picture.

Unknown said...

Hello fellow crusader! I am a tad bit late, so I just thought I would just say Hi! :D

I Love the Aunt Nic-Nack-No!
But I venture a guess at social networking being the lie!

Anonymous said...

Hello fellow crusader, I'm going with the profile picture, it doesn't look photo shopped to me.
