Show Your Space Blogfest!

Summer at ...and this time, concentrate! had a fantastic idea for a blogfest.  Today, we're showing each other our workspaces!  Fun, right?

Here's my workspace!

I'm always adding to the design wall -- any picture, magazine photo, or sketch that inspires me goes up.  I subscribe to Elle Decor magazine, which is an excellent source for setting details.  Pictures of house interiors, European architecture and restaurants, tropical homes and landscapes go on the wall, as well as close-up shots of chairs, tables, doors, floorings, stucco or tiled walls, and pictures of exotic or couture fabrics.  So much inspiration!

Also on my wall right now are maps to help me with the logistics of my current WiP:  road maps of the southern United States, a map of downtown Washington D.C., and one of its Metro system.  There are also pictures of celebrities that remind me, especially in the way they are dressed, of the characters in my story.

Other incidentals: my workspace is located in the upstairs "bonus room" of our house, where I can close the door and shut out the rest of the household (LOL).  I use the student version of Microsoft Word 2007, and all my reference books (dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedias, style guides) are all online.

Okay, I showed you mine, now you show me yours!  And whether you're playing along or not, visit the next stop on the blogfest list:  Sarah Ahiers at Falen Formulates Fiction.  And for the whole list of participating bloggers, go here -->  CLICK ME

Love your work space...so inspirational. I want it.

That's great! I love how everyone's spaces are so different.

I love seeing maps. I'd like to have a globe and a flat map of the US. For NaNo last year, I hand-drew a map of North America, Europe, and Asia for my sci-fi novel, just so I could have a visual representation of the dystopian reassignments.

Thanks for participating. :)

I love the design wall. That's a great idea. My favorite picture on it is the one with the butterfly and swan *wink*. :D

Ohh I love your design wall! Very visual and inspiring, but fess up ... did you straighten up before you took the picture?? LOL

I really miss having a dedicated writing space. My den was my perfect sanctuary at the old house, but that was lost when we moved into the rental which only has 2 bedrooms. I have a tiny desk in the back corner of the living room now. I will try to snap a picture when I get home tonight!

Happy Monday/November!

Wow, so lively and colorful! I had a big map and collage of photos on the wall when I was working on another project about Rome. Like you, I'll probably tailor the space to each story as I go.

I feel inspired just looking at your wall!! Wow! This is fabulous!

(Enough exclamations? Sorry)

This really is awesome though. I used to have more pictures like this around my desk but I tore it all down when I framed my map cause...it needed to stand alone. Also, what is more inspiring then Jk Rowling's story? Or that's what I like to tell myself anyway.

your space is very clean and neat! Mine is very dusty... but I have pix of my children all around--and their art. So that's inspirational! :D <3

I would adore the MAPS. Maps help me keep things straight... in fact I could probably put some up by my computer. Behind it, I have a book shelf (long story). I think though, so many people are more visual than me. I only have a couple pictures... Great space!

What a lovely space to write. I think a girl needs more than just a room of her own--she needs an inspirational room of her own! And you have just that. I love it.

I'm excited to have found your blog! I can see I'm going to love following you.

What a fun blogfest! And I love your workspace - how nice that you have your very own room. I alternate between the living room and my bedroom, whichever is quietest.
