Look Who I Met!

Summer and me, at Starbucks

Yesterday, I had a GREAT day.  I met Summer (...and this time, concentrate!) for coffee!  Not cyber-coffee, either.  Actual hot beverages, enjoyed face-á-face, outside the blogosphere in the land of flesh-and-blood.  Those of you lucky enough to have met with writer/bloggers know how thrilling it is to sit across from a 3-D version of your blogger bud's profile photo, to hear her voice, and to talk in depth about writing and about life in general.  It was nothing short of awesome!

I don't have a great deal of support of my writing in my life.  English is my husband's second language, and he has no desire to struggle through my stories.  He's fine with me writing, as long as I don't do it when he's home.  I can live with that.  My kids are very proud of my accomplishments, but they complain incessantly if they are home and I'm "on the boring computer."  Friends listen when I bring up my writing, but very soon their eyes glass over, and I know it's time to change the subject.  It was really, really nice to sit with Summer (for two and a half hours!!) and talk about our projects, our short and long term goals, what it would mean to be published, or not.  I'm looking forward to many more chats!

And, I feel energized to get writing.  Thanks for that, Summer:)

I hope everyone's enjoying their week so far.  Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Wow, I wish I could meet fellow bloggers face to face! English is Spilio's second language too so I know EXACTLY how it feels!

Are you a writer? Then you MUST enter this CONTEST!

I'm so jealous! I saw the picture of at Summer's blog! I am excited because I have met a blog buddy before and I'm going to meet another one this coming September! We're having dinner and I'm excited!

I'm glad you had a ton of fun! You two are super cute!

Wow! Isn't the power of conversation, I mean actual conversation--talking, eye contact, listening--the sharing of information whether trivial or not, soothing sometimes? Or in your case motivational.

I'm glad that you were able to talk(in the real world) to someone who shares the same passion. I haven't been so successful in that department. Mainly because no one around me writes, or has a clue why I'm ecstatic one minute(wrapping up a scene) and suddenly depressed the next(revisions).

And it's funny that you mentioned your husband is fine with your writing as long as it's not when he's home. Here I was thinking I had the only husband in the world that enforces that rule!

It's so exciting to meet blogger buddies. I had the thrill last month. I hope to meet more soon.
So glad you guys could meet. Summer does rock.
I feel ya on the non support from home. My hubs thinks my writing is a hobby and it should not interfere with my other duties.
Take care. Maybe we will meet one day. :)

It was SO great! And I'll admit that when I got home, I had a mild fever, but it was worth it!! (Don't worry, nothing contagious--just a little sinus trouble.)

I'm always happy to talk, and even happier to get out of the house. :)

As I mentioned to Summer, I'm uber jealous!! Sounds so awesome! I love face to face chats that last for hours.

That is fantastic, Nicole! There's nothing like meeting a writerly friend in person :) ... especially for support. Regardless of how supportive people in your daily life are (or are not), nothing beats sitting down to chat it out with someone who truly "gets it"

How fun! And look how cute you guys are! Sounds like a great way to really connect, and it's great your children support your writing! You need that. Hang in there~ :o)

That is awesome! I'm meeting Kim Derting IN THE FLESH in Scottsdale for her signing and I'm making her go to lunch with me. We all need our blogger buddies!

That is great! We need our like-minded friends to keep us going through this roller coaster of writing. My husband hates to read, but he will if no one else is there to do it for me. I'm so glad you benefited from your meeting! :)

You gots no hair!!!! (but I really like it).

We need to tempt Summer to come down again when I'm there for Labor Day!

My wife is 100% supportive of my writing and listens to me babble on about the headaches and heartaches it casues, but there's nothing like sitting down and talking with a fellow writer!!

So glad that you had a nice time with Summer.

None of my friends are writers either, so I get a lot of the glass eyed looks. Thankfully there's the wonderful blogging community. :)

That's so great that you met up with each other!

I know what you mean about being refreshed by time spent with another writer. My writing group buddies are my life savers! As well as all the writers I've met online while blogging and on forums.

Writing is a lonely occupation and we need the moral support as well as companionship of other writers.

How great for you and Summer. And I'm a bit envious because you are actually one of the few blogfriends I'd actually like to meet :-)

So fun! I'm really glad you had such a great visit! It's so important to have writing friends to chat with. They're the only ones who understand the ups and downs of the writing world.

I'm jealous, I don't have any writer friends near me, they're not even in the same country!
Sorry I hadn't come by for a time and I hadn't seen the changes on your blog, it looks great.
